Bistrica and Trbušnica Dams and Retentions
In safeguarding the future “E Field” of the “Kolubara” mine from potential inundation by the Peštan River, an intricate flood protection initiative was devised. Our integral role centered on executing the construction phase of Dams "Bistrica" and "Trbušnica," coupled with their auxiliary structures and the public road, within the system for regulation of the Peštan River and control of flood sischarge. Serving as the Engineer on the project, we provided precise and vigilant supervision of the construction works.
The project's formidable scale and complexity were not only embraced but thoroughly enjoyed, showcasing our adeptness and pride in the acquired experience. Both dams stand as embankment structures, characterized by stone fill on the dam body and upstream blanket, a clay watertight core, and strategically positioned sand and gravel filter layers. The total retention area at the normal pool level for each dam spans approximately 20 ha, with a retention length exceeding 1.3 kilometers. The maximum construction height of the dam for each approaches around 20 m.
This undertaking underscores our unwavering commitment to navigating substantial hydraulic engineering challenges, ensuring the seamless integration of technical precision and innovative solutions in the realm of large-scale flood protection infrastructure.
